WASH sector stakeholders signed 1st JSR Resolution in Nepal
The Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector stakeholders of Nepal signed the 1st Joint Sector Review (JSR) Resolution during the JSR meeting organised by the Sector Efficiency Improvement Unit (SEIU) of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Works (MPPW) from 5th to 6th May 2011. The JSR document has been considered as a common guiding document to move forward in the sector.

Time to acknowledge the dirty truth behind community-led sanitation

WASH Nepal blog launched
The WASH-RCNN with technical support from IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre, the Netherlands has launched WASH Nepal blog that consist of a sector calendar, a collection of documents, mailing group, social network and a Q&A platform on the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector in Nepal. To improve the performance of the WASH sector up to a situation where the sector is ‘learning’ and continuously improves / adapts to changing realities, it is paramount information flows freely. The primary rationale of this article is to share documented process and experiences gained in WASH programme, which went through different contexts and experienced new developments. This article concentrated primarily in the mountains and hills of Nepal, which has the high levels of poverty in Nepal. It is envisioned that the information captured here can serve as reference material in the future.

D-WASH Resource Group formed in Chitwan
The District Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene Coordination Committee (D-WASH-CC), Chitwan organised a meeting to discuss and share lessons on sanitation promotion and making Chitwan as Sanitation Model District (SMD) in the country and also formed a D-WASH Resource Group. Parliament passes bill on solid waste management

Blog - Water Services That Last
This blog aims to regularly report experiences, stories and questions on rural water supply. It will ask questions and provoke debate on how sustainability of water systems can be improved. It seeks to provide examples and learn from failures. It does not aim to provide ready-made answers; if those would exist, they would win the Nobel Prize for Water, or, more likely, the Silver Bullet Award. Youth for Youth: developing youth entrepreneurship for waste management
The “paschim paaila” organized three-day training on building entrepreneurial skills of youth to transform waste into wealth. The training was organised from June 2-4, 2011 as a part of the WASH Led Youth Empowerment Project supported by UN-HABITAT Urban Youth Fund and Environment & Public Health Organization (ENPHO).
